History

These community events are staged under the ‘Bucks Live’ banner by the First and Second Year Music & Live Events Management students from Buckinghamshire New University as part of their Event Management module, and over the years these have grown into significant dates in the local High Wycombe calendar. ‘Bucks Live’ has had a number of differing and exciting themes, and always delivers some fantastic live music and family fun for the local community.

Things got going in March 2013 with Wonderland & Underland, based on an Alice in Wonderland theme, with the daytime activities going by the name of Wonderland, a family friendly fun day, and the night transforming into the darker Underland complete with Shisha lounge to re-enact the famous blue caterpillar from the book and film.

For the 2014 event Bucks Live returned with Carnival! and High Wycombe came alive with the type of party atmosphere associated with many of the world’s most famous carnivals. Carnival came in two distinct elements; during the day a family themed carnival while the night was transformed into a glamorous Venetian masquerade ball.

The Chocolate Factory arrived in 2015, a feast of fun, designed around Roald Dahl’s ‘Charlie and The Chocolate Factory’. The whole community got involved and families enjoyed  a day of fun, excitement and wonder. True to the Bucks Live tradition ‘The Chocolate Factory’ featured a fantastic array of artists performing on the day.

Spring of 2016, and ‘Bucks Live’ presented Jungle Bucks. The jungle inspired event featured loads of fun for the children including the ever popular inflatables, fairground attractions, food and drink stalls, local traders, face painters and much more. And music lovers there was be variety of fabulous music to watch and enjoy on the day, with acts including a local steel band.

The fun continued in December 2016 with the first ever Winter event Winterland.
